Hyperopia

Hyperopia, commonly known as farsightedness, is a refractive error that’s caused by the eye being shorter than normal or the lens being too concave, leading to distant objects being clear while close-up objects are blurry. Prescription eyeglasses, contact lenses, and LASIK surgery (depending on your eligibility) can correct hyperopia.

Astigmatism

Astigmatism is a hard-to-fit eye condition that occurs because of an irregularly shaped cornea, leading to blurred or distorted vision at all distances. Glasses and toric contact lenses are common ways of correcting it. LASIK may also be an option.

Presbyopia

Presbyopia is an age-related condition that affects most adults over 40, making it challenging to read fine print or perform close-up tasks. This condition is easily corrected using progressive, bifocal, and multifocal glasses or contacts.

Myopia

Myopia, or nearsightedness, happens when the eye becomes too elongated or when the cornea is too curved, leading to light focusing incorrectly on the retina. This results in distant objects appearing blurry. Eyeglasses and contact lenses can effectively correct nearsightedness.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that damage the optic nerve and lead to progressive vision loss if left untreated. Open-angle glaucoma and angle-closure glaucoma are the two main types of glaucoma. Open-angle glaucoma is the most common form and develops gradually over time, often without noticeable symptoms in the early stages. Angle-closure glaucoma, on the other hand, is less common but can cause sudden and severe symptoms such as eye pain, blurred vision, and halos around lights.

Our eye doctor uses advanced diagnostic techniques to detect glaucoma in its earliest stages, allowing for timely intervention and treatment.

Cataracts

Cataracts are a common age-related condition that causes clouding of the natural lens of the eye, leading to blurry vision and other visual disturbances. Cataract surgery, where the natural lens is replaced with an artificial one, can correct this condition.

Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD)

Macular degeneration is a progressive eye disease that affects the macula, the central part of the retina responsible for sharp vision. Wet and dry macular degeneration are the two main forms of this condition. Dry AMD is more common and progresses slowly, causing gradual central vision loss, whereas wet AMD is less common but can cause rapid and severe vision loss due to abnormal blood vessel growth in the macula. Treatments include monitoring, anti-VEGF injections, or photodynamic therapy.
